Dan will be heading back up to Idaho for the Snake River Sumo Association's 6th annual tournament. This year the tournament will be held in Rigby, Idaho: hometown of 3-time US Champion Kelly Gneiting (the only American to win a match against Dan this year). Hopefully Dan will come home with the grand prize again: a sack of potatoes.

Dan will be competing at the inaugural FitExpo Sumo Grand Prix, the first International sumo tournament this year. Last year, the United States Sumo Federation put on a demonstration for the FitExpo. This year, the USSF was asked to produce a competition to join The All American Strongman Challenge, the Gracie US Nationals, and bodybuilding's Ironman Pro XX. All events will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

July 16th–18th, 2009
Dan will be representing the United States of America and North America at The 2009 World Games in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The World Games are held every 4 years, with support from the International Olympic Committee. 2009 will be the second time sumo will be a part of this event. Dan will be joined by his US teammates Trent Sabo, Kena Heffernan, Doug Cochran, and Kelly Gneiting.
